April Rovero - Founder/President April retired from Lucent Technologies as a National Program Management Director in 2001 after a 30 year career in telecommunications. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters Certificate in Program Management from Stephen's Institute of Technology. April founded NCAPDA as a result of her son, Joey's, accidental death on December 18, 2009 from a lethal mixture of alcohol and prescription drugs while attending Arizona State University. April leads and oversees all aspects of the organization. |

Jim Hansen - Vice President Jim is a security professional with over 12 years of experience in implementing and building software products. He is currently the Director of Product Management for a software company in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he is responsible for all security and compliance solutions. Jim has a B.S. in Computer Science from UC Irvine and is an active speaker at IT security conferences and events throughout the world. He is the son of April and Joseph Rovero and brother of Joey Rovero. In his capacity as Vice President, Jim assists with NCAPDA's strategic and tactical initiatives and helps raise awareness through his participation as a key member of NCAPDA's Speaker's Bureau. |

Joseph Rovero - Treasurer Joe is Joey's father, and the co-founder of NCAPDA. Joe is a graduate of Connecticut School of Electronics and he retired as a Program Manager with AT&T in 1998 with 25 years of telecommunications experience. He is the financial manager and planner for the organization and provides technical, operational and strategic assistance to members of NCAPDA's staff as needed. |

Laura Wick - Secretary Laura has a BS degree in Finance and has worked in the insurance business for over 25 years in various roles including Controller and VP of Operations. Laura has lived in San Ramon for the past 13 years with her husband and two teenage sons. She has been very active in community programs, including supporting the local schools and participating in her son's sports and Boy Scout programs. As Secretary, Laura keeps all of the necessary records for the organization and provides organizational, planning and administrative support as required. |

Scott Gerbert - Director Using Scott's vast educational knowledge, experience and contact base, his role at NCAPDA is to assist in the development of prescription drug educational tools and programs and to help establish opportunities to use them. |

Dr. Richard Gracer - Director Dr. Richard Gracer, founder and director of Gracer Medical Group, has been a doctor for over 30 years and has been practicing orthopedic medicine since 1979. He is certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, board certified in Family Practice, and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Gracer is a well-known specialist in Regenerative Injection Therapy (prolotherapy) and interventional pain management. Dr. Gracer has edited three books, Beating the Years, Beating Back Pain and Beating Sports Injuries. He also wrote an "ask the doctor" column for 10 years, published an essay in the anthology, Peak Vitality, and is the author of his first book, A New Prescription for Addiction. Zack Tehaney - Director Zack is a lifetime resident of San Ramon, CA and a 2010 graduate of Las Positas College in Livermore. He is currently attending Sacramento State University, where he is majoring in Organizational Communications. Zack became an NCAPDA Staff Member as a direct result of the accidental death of his very close friend, Joey Rovero, from a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs. Zack's role in NCAPDA is to connect with teens and young adults, using his personal high school and college real-life experiences to educate them on the dangers of prescription drug abuse. |

Kathy Rains - Director Kathy has a teenage son who also works with NCAPDA to spread the word amongst his middle school peers about the dangers of abusing prescription drugs. She is learning first hand about the pressures our youth face today and is committed to supporting NCAPDA through the education and enlightenment her unique background brings to us. |

Frankie Andrews - Area Director, North Carolina As Area Director, Frankie oversees and manages all of NCAPDA’s awareness building activities throughout the state of North Carolina. He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and relocated to Mount Airy, No. Carolina in (1976). Frankie is the father of 5-year old Colton, who is the focus and light of his life. Frankie became actively involved in his advocacy work against prescription drug abuse after his family suffered the devastating loss of his sister’s two sons, Matthew (age 25) and Brandon (age 26) from Methadone and Ativan in 2006 and 2010, respectively. By sharing his nephews’ stories and the impact their loss has had on his family and community, Frankie has helped countless others understand how dangerous prescription drugs can be when used recreationally or even when they are legitimately prescribed by a doctor. |

Alissa Fiset - Public Relations Director Alissa is a lifetime resident of Danville, CA. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Arizona State University, where she was close friends with Joey Rovero. Alissa handles public relations for NCAPDA, primarily acting as an intermediary between our organization and various local and national media outlets. |

Lauren Fickling - Graphic Designer Lauren Fickling was a good friend of Joey’s. She is majoring in graphic design and multimedia at San Diego State University. She is providing NCAPDA with graphics, posters and flyers needed to help spread awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. |

Nicole Gee - Event Photographer Nicole has been a photographer of one sort or another her entire life. At the beginning of her career, she worked for large corporations as a multi-image producer. This entailed event photography, product photography, and a lot of darkroom and studio work, syncing images to a soundtrack. Since then, she has taken her love of people and created a portrait photography business, specializing in location portraits. Nicole is a Certified Professional Photographer through PPA (Professional Photographers of America), and is active in her local Northern California Professional Photographers Association. Website |

Tim Barley, Pastor, Valley Bible Church, Pleasanton Tim Barley graduated from Stetson University (DeLand, FL) with a degree in Business Administration (B.B.A.) and Golden Gate Seminary (Mill Valley, CA) with a Masters of Divinity. Tim has has been serving as the pastor to students and families at Valley Bible Church at the Crossing in Pleasanton for nearly twenty years. He has served as a leader in community organizations as a board member and highly requested speaker for parent and teen seminars through Teen Esteem, a program addressing issues of adolescent health in public and private High Schools and Middle Schools in the Bay Area. He also serves as a chaplain for the San Ramon Valley Fire District and has served in this role for nearly a decade. Tim is a gifted communicator and has been invited to speak at camps, conferences, and seminars throughout California, the United States and internationally. |

Dr. Kristie Manning, Pediatric Hospitalist Dr. Manning grew up in Pleasanton, CA as the oldest of 4 children. She completed her undergraduate work at UCLA in 2001, where she majored in Physiological Science. After graduation from UCLA, she spent a year in Washington, D.C. doing research at the National Institutes of Health. She started medical school in 2002 at the University of Chicago and completed pediatric residency in Chicago from 2006-2009 at Children's Memorial Hospital. Dr. Manning returned to the Bay Area in the summer of 2009 and currently lives in San Francisco. She practices as a Pediatric Hospitalist at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. |

Bob Pack, Founder The Troy and Alana Pack Foundation In 2004 he started the Pack Foundation to spearhead public safety initiatives and has co-authored three Calif. Senate bills on narcotic drugs and drinking and driving, that have passed and become law. Bob currently chairs the state committee for the implementation of a real-time technology platform for the tracking of narcotic prescription drugs in California. Website |

John Schinnerer, Ph.D. John is in private practice teaching clients the latest ways to turn down the volume on negative emotions such as anger, anxiety and stress. He also helps individuals discover successful, more meaningful lives. His offices are in Danville, California 94526. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a Ph.D. in educational psychology. He has been an executive, speaker and coach for over 14 years. John is Founder of Guide To Self, a company that coaches men to happiness and success using the latest in positive psychology. He hosted over 200 episodes of Guide To Self Radio, a daily prime time radio show, in the SF Bay Area. His areas of expertise range from positive psychology, to emotional awareness, to anger management. David Stegman Dave currently serves as the Executive Director of the Dorothy Day House (DDH) (for homeless and low income residents of the city of Berkeley). Prior to coming to DDH he served as Executive Director for the Contra Costa Humane Society, Valley Humane Society, Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation and the San Ramon Valley Community Services Group. Other work experiences included being the Director of Community Services for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Palo Alto. Dave is a life member of the San Ramon Valley Kiwanis Club (since 1971), and has served as the President of the Danville Chamber of Commerce. He has participated in annual Leadership programs in Walnut Creek, San Ramon Valley, Pleasanton and Livermore. Dave’s forty-one years of varied professional experiences has led him to a belief that his true gift in life is to help others. That value system is based in a strong sense of community, commitment to family, love of animals and care for people in need. |

Jeri Stegman, Addictions Specialist Founder and principal of JS Consulting, has worked in behavioral health for over 20 years. She has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology with an Addictions Studies specialization and is a Registered Addiction Specialist. She has worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Ms. Stegman currently brings her wealth of addictions treatment experience to Gracer Behavioral Services where she is the Director of this cutting edge team that is bringing the very latest in substance abuse and mental health services to Northern California. Linda Turnbull, Teen Esteem The founder and Director of Teen Esteem, Linda Turnbull, is dedicated to equipping, educating and empowering teens, parents and the community on issues related to teens and adolescent health. She is passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle for teens, especially in the area of high risk adolescent behavior. Her desire is to bring a message of truth to teenagers and to encourage them to think about the choices they are making; as well as to consider what is best for them, not only today, but for their future. Greg Van Ess Greg has over 30 years of business management experience ranging from V.P. & G.M. Asia with Schlumberger Semiconductor Equipment, to private small business acquisition and ownership. Greg has a B.S.E.E. from Clarkson University in New York. His son, Alexander H. Van Ess (Alec), died accidentally on January 11, 2009, from prescription drug abuse, while attending college in Atlanta, Georgia.
